One of the highlights of the Whitman Baltimore Spring Expo this year was Stack’s Bowers Galleries official auction of the Joel. R. Anderson Collection Part I, in which two rare $1000 notes sold for almost $1 million each.
Noted Whitman author Dennis Tucker spent some time exploring the recent Whitman Baltimore Spring Expo, with all the excitement it had to offer, especially at Kids Korner and giveaways at the Whitman Books booth.
During the Stack’s Bowers auction of The Joel R. Anderson Collection, a rare 1863 $1000 bill sold for $960,000, one of only two known to be owned privately.

The official auction of the 2017 Whitman Coins & Collectibles Winter Expo held by Stack’s Bowers Galleries was an astounding success, realizing over $13.3 million across eight sessions of United States coinage and related issues. Nearly $2 million in paper money also crossed the block with superb results.
