Washington D.C. Sales Tax Information
Important information for Washington D.C. Expo dealers and exhibitors.
In Washington, D.C., sales tax is required to be collected during an event that includes the sale of merchandise. It is our understanding that the District of Columbia treats retail sales of coins, bullion, and other precious metals as taxable tangible personal property subject to the District's general sales tax (currently 6.0%, increasing to 7.0% on October 1, 2026). Washington, D.C., does not currently provide a specific sales tax exemption for retail purchases of coins or precious metals.
